Phuket the Beautiful Land of Nature

Phuket, a tropical paradise in Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations for backpackers. This beautiful island situated off the coast of Thailand is the preferred choice of adventure-seeking tourists. Phuket is Thailand’s second-longest island. The largest island of Phuket is Phuket Kata, which is also known as Patong. Each of these islands has their own charm that attracts thousands of tourists and travelers from across the globe each year. Some of the must-visit destinations in Phuket are listed below.

 

Phuket City, in Phuket Island, is the administrative capital of Thailand. In the Old Town, Thalang Road runs lined with old shophouses and colonial buildings. Built-in 1903, a French-designed mansion, Baan Chinpachacha mansion has antique furniture, shutters, windowed windows, and exquisite paintings. The Thai Hua Museum is also located in Thalang.

 

Phuket has numerous temples. The main temple of Phuket is Wat Mongkol Nimit, which is dedicated to the Hindu goddess of love. Other temples of Phuket include Karon Sanamphitai, Wat Chalong, Wat Khanon, Wat Saket, and Santoshinath. Visitors are welcome to visit any temple they choose.

 

Aside from temples, Phuket has nature to encounter. It is a perfect getaway from the busy city life. The islands have many nature reserves and tourist spots. Some of them include Butchkon Island, Loek van Thai, Ang Thong, and Koh Panyee. Loek Van Thai is a World Heritage site and is known for its unique collection of fossilized remains of prehistoric animals, such as dinosaurs and prehistoric man. A good example is Butchkon’s collection of fossilized shells.

 

While at Phuket, you may also want to take a walk through the ancient forests of Phuket. The flora and fauna of the jungle are still growing and changing. You can also try trekking in the Thalang and reach the southern part of Phuket.

 

The food in Phuket ranges from traditional to international. Thai restaurants and Chinese restaurants are frequent, but you are also welcome to try Indian, continental, and even Italian food. For dessert, you can try the ice cream called malai. The locals make this delicious ice cream with cashews and milk. If you’re on a diet, you don’t have to fear as there are healthy and delicious choices in Phuket. The best thing about Phuket is that you can indulge in all kinds of cuisines and not feel like you have gone back to the Stone Age.
